Hardware based on the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-1.85″ family: 360×360 round touch screen (QSPI), ESP32-S3R8, 16MB Flash, and 8MB PSRAM, Wi‑Fi and BLE 5, audio with microphones and speaker output in smart-speaker/box config (BOX variants). BitBitBla firmware optimized for ESP32-S3.

Firmware

  • The device includes BitBitBla firmware v.37.0 optimized for S3.
  • Flashing third-party firmware is not supported: intended exclusively for the BitBitBla platform.
  • Continuous updates via BitBitBla using OTA (over-the-air).

External Communication

  • Dedicated TTL UART (header): BitBitBla firmware can send JSON via serial to another microcontroller.
  • USB Type‑C (USB CDC UART): same JSON command line as the physical serial when used as a virtual port.
  • I2C Bus (dedicated header): chip-to-chip communication when firmware and board design allow (refer to Waveshare pinout).
  • 28-pin expansion header (1.27mm pitch): pins can work as additional UART, I²C, or SPI to interface another IC with JSON payloads.
